About search engines and internet directories

Note that directories can offer search facilities, but that doesn't make them search engines. Search engines collect information from all over the net, and point you to information from all over the net in response to your search. They may also be unmoderated (and uncensored). Directories contain classified information, often submitted by site owners, and search their own classifications in response to your search.
